Homemade Hanukkah gelt

When the sun goes down and dessert cravings go up, who can resist a bissel chocolate? Too often, chocolate Hanukkah Gelt is plain and unimaginative. Our Hanukkah Gelt recipe is a new take on this traditional treat that will delight everyone and make you look like a kitchen maven. Go ahead, show off a little!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups high-quality dark chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ cup dried fruit or nuts, chopped
  • 2 non-stick mini muffin tins
  • Colored aluminum foil

Directions

  1. Warm chocolate chips in the microwave (or double boiler) until they’re almost melted, then remove them from heat and stir until completely melted. Stir in vanilla extract.
  2. Spoon into 2 non-stick mini muffin tins, to desired thickness.
  3. Add chopped dried fruit or nuts.
  4. Pop out chocolate coins, wrap each coin in a small square of colored foil, and store them in an airtight container.
